Have you determined whether the project needs a Certificate of Environmental Clearance (CEC)?

This screening does not determine whether a CEC is legally required. For Bahamas projects, DEPP makes the regulatory determination.

Have terrestrial and, where relevant, marine ecological receptors been identified?

Could the site affect wetlands, mangroves, dunes, coppice, seagrass, coral or other sensitive habitat?

For coastal sites, have shoreline condition, erosion, setbacks and marine impacts been assessed?

Are potable water supply, storage and groundwater conditions understood?

Has stormwater runoff, drainage and flood routing been considered?

Is the wastewater treatment and disposal/reuse strategy defined for the expected occupancy?

Has the site been checked for historic contamination, fuel storage, dumping or hazardous materials?

Are construction-phase environmental controls documented?

Are construction and operational waste routes—including off-island disposal where necessary—known?

Have nearby receptors and likely dust, noise, traffic or community impacts been assessed?

Have hurricane, storm surge, flood, extreme rainfall, heat and drought exposures been considered?

Is there a current register of environmental approvals, studies, commitments and conditions?

Has the authority confirmed whether an EIA, EBA, EMP or other environmental study/document is required?

Are operational environmental responsibilities, monitoring and incident-response arrangements defined?
